Cat's Eyes

The girl with Cat's eyes
crept into the window of my life
and stayed for a while.
she wrapped herself around me
like candy-coated barbed wired
and like all cats do,
she left while I wasn't watching
for weeks
for months
a year
leaving me alone
in a darkened house
and then she came back
meowing and clawing at my window
left broken bodied and famished
a past year of drugs, alcohol and death.
no where to turn.
I didn't let her in.
