I wonder if animals feel the same unreserved sadness that humans feel. Not just "Im sad because I didnt get to go for a walk" type of sadness, but more of " I fucking hate myself" type of sadness. I can understand that animals can be filled with anger(For example, snakes and such), but it's hard to think about a melancholy cat.
I have actually observed a honey bee commit suicide before. It was one of the most mind-boggling things I have ever seen. I was about 11 years young and I was at some man's house who my stepfather,Jim, knew. Jim and the gentleman were discussing some sort of business and I was standing outside waiting when I saw the bee. It was actually banging its head into a wall until it began to get tired. It stuck it's own head under the crack of a brick and began to rip it's own head off. I have no way of explaining this occurrence.
What do things like this mean? Is there an explanation? was the bee just an idiot or was something really bothering it so much that it had the need to do something like that.
Just a thought.
